Description:The Conference of District Attorneys is a state agency made up of the 42 elected District Attorneys. The purpose of the Conference is to assist in improving the administration of justice in North Carolina by coordinating the prosecution efforts of the various district attorneys and by assisting them in the administration of their offices. The Conference is governed by the elected district attorneys and assisted by a staff located in Raleigh, including a Child Abuse Resource Prosecutor and a Violence Against Women Resource Prosecutor. Primary responsibilities of the staff include the assessment of needs and trends affecting prosecution, development of training, publications, and provision of legal research and technical assistance to prosecutors and other professionals who are a part of the investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses in North Carolina.
