| Description: | Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina (PCA North Carolina) is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect in all its forms. Founded in 1979, the organization has evolved from a primary focus on raising public awareness of the issue of child maltreatment to its present role of providing direct leadership in identifying and promoting systemic social and family changes that impact child maltreatment prevention.
To be effective, child abuse prevention efforts must be woven into the fabric of our communities—into the structure of our schools, hospitals, places of work, communities of faith, and childcare facilities. By identifying, supporting, and disseminating family-oriented, community-based, outcome-driven programs and strategies, PCA North Carolina’s work is helping change attitudes, shape public policies, and promote programs designed to prevent child abuse before it happens. |
